Study in the North

A small, but very modern country, Denmark doesn't disappoint when it comes to universities. From humanitarian subjects, to natural sciences and engineering, you will find at least one course that will suit your expectations, the following ones, being the top universities Denmark has to offer.

*A, B and C refer to the course level - not grades

* The Danish level required by all universities for courses in Danish: pass the Study Test in Danish as a Second Language (‘Studieprøven’) or Danish at A-level (Danish level).

University of Copenhagen

Founded in the 15th century, the University of Copenhagen is the oldest in Denmark and second oldest in the entire Scandinavia. The university is renowned for its excellent academic results, being top ranked in Denmark, hosting the biggest number of students in the country. However, despite all this, the courses here are only taught in Danish, so a qualification in the language is required.

Since all the courses are taught in Danish, there are no English language requirements. Each course has its own requirements, but no matter what you choose to study, you need to provide proof that you passed any secondary school exam (IB, German Abitur etc.) with a minimum of 6.0 Danish score.

Aarhus University

Hosting over 40 thousand students, Aarhus University is the second largest in the country. The school is renowned for its research contribution and for its excellent academic results. Furthermore, Aarhus offers over 60 courses in English, so Danish qualifications are not required if you want to study here.

Technical University of Denmark(DTU)

Barely missing the latest top 100 in the world, the DTU is one of the best universities in Denmark when it comes to engineering studies, having very few undergraduate courses, the only one which is taught in English being one in General Engineering.

If you apply with an IB diploma then you need at least grade 3 in all 6 subjects and including at least 3 subjects at Higher Level (HL), and an overall score of at least 24.

Aalborg University

Aalborg University differentiates itself from the older and more traditional Danish universities with its focus on interdisciplinary, inter-faculty studies. The University is mainly located in Aalborg, offering courses both in English and Danish, the ones in English focusing mainly on applied sciences and engineering, while the Danish curriculum is more complex, including humanitarian and media courses as well.

Copenhagen Business School(CBS)

Ranked in the top 100 universities worldwide when it comes to financial studies, the CBS teaches most of its courses in English, more than half of the school's students being recruited from abroad. This makes the CBS just the right learning environment for students all around the world that wish to attend a Danish university.

The subject qualifications vary from course to course and they also depend on the country you are coming from. The general minimum requirements consist of a secondary school qualification, such as IB, which should be passed with at least 24 points, the minimum national level.

University of Southern Denmark

Having campuses in multiple locations across Denmark and being composed of five faculties(Humanities, Science, Engineering, Social Sciences and Health Sciences), the University of Southern Denmark offers a broad variety of courses, some of them being taught exclusively in English. The university has been ranked multiple times in top 100 young universities worldwide when it comes to academic performance.

Requirements vary from course to course, most of them having their own specific qualification you need.
